I can tell I've had a successful session when I can walk away knowing I'm happy with my photos, I had a blast taking them, and that I've learned something new. Meet the family responsible for my awesome day: Russell, Jessica, & Luke Lorfing!
Yesterday was Luke's first birthday! So both Jessica and Russell's family joined in today for some birthday party fun. Jessica went all out with the fishing-themed decorations, "fishing hole", and goofy photo booth.
SO cute. But even cuter was the mini family session we did before the party. This is where my learning experience came into play as I very rarely shoot inside, so it was a challenge for me to stick with natural light photography. But I'm so happy with the results! And I love any opportunity to practice my weaknesses. Luke was a little restless at first, but got used to the camera quickly and showed off his new pearly whites!
And then it was time to party! The kids took turns fishing paper fish with their magnetic fishing poles. The photo booth was a hit, with the adults probably making better use of it than the kids!
"Happy Birthday" was sung and cake was smashed, a necessity for every first birthday. It took Luke a little while to realize he liked the cupcake, but he came around!
Happy 1st Birthday Luke! And thank you to Russell & Jessica for inviting me to capture this special day!
(Now here are my favorite photo booth pics:)
